In 1983 SriLankan Catering started operating the Airport Restaurant at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, which consists of Palm Strip Restaurant (Transit Restaurant), Palm Strip Bar (Smiles & other Economy Class Passengers) and Public Restaurant. It also provides food and beverage services to Serendib Lounge (for SriLankan Airlines Business Class passengers), Araliya Lounge (for Business Class passengers of other airlines), Lotus Lounge (for First Class passengers of other airlines), VIP Lounge and the Presidential Lounge for the VVIP’s, Heads of State and other dignitaries.
The Palm Strip Restaurant is situated in the main transit area and has a seating capacity of 240 passengers. It serves ala-carte meals and snacks with a large selection of alcohol and non alcohol beverages.
The Public Restaurant is located in the departure hall and is patronized by the general public, staff and passengers. It has a seating capacity of 140 passengers. The Restaurant has been equipped with modern equipment and functions in a computerized environment. The team always bears in mind that products sold should be cost effective.
The Palm Strip Lounge is located in the transit hall and has a seating capacity of 56 passengers. Alcohol and non alcohol beverages and snacks are served here.
The Restaurant Division works around the clock as a separate entity having its own team of qualified personnel with a separate kitchen in operation. This Division consists of 90 staff.
